Business Development Associate at Edison Venture Fund

At Edison, our collaborative team of diverse professionals and staff are a key component of our success. The Edison team is committed to the success of every investment we make. The Business Development group at Edison is responsible for identifying and generating a consistent flow of qualified companies for investment consideration. Duties include:
Proactively contacting executives of emerging software and communications companies located in the Mid-Atlantic region
Qualifying candidates relative to the Edison investment criteria and introducing investment team
Maintaining rapport with executives at companies not yet meeting criteria
Communicating Edison's value and experience in building growth companies
Identify new sources of prospective companies (trade publications, events etc.)
Coordinating efforts with Regional Investment Team
Attend trade, venture and networking event
Meeting team and individual performance goal
Light local travel required
Qualifications:
Professional, focused, goal-oriented, team player
Excellent relationship building skills
Exposure to business development, sales and/or relationship management
Familiar and comfortable with prospecting techniques
Familiarity with business models and financial principles
Proficiency with online search techniques, data bases and Microsoft Office
Exposure to the software and/or telecom industry a plus, especially niches such as PharmaIT, Financial Services IT or wireless applications
Prefer approximately 5 years of relevant business experience
Bachelors Degree
